LA Times Hangs on Bush's Every Word

And every word is the same. [T]he verbal quirk has turned up in Bush's speeches at least four times this week. On Thursday, he used it four times in a 10-minute address....

"It's a way to be a common person, and it may be who he is," said Montague Kern, an associate professor of media and politics at Rutgers University who specializes in political language. "It gives impact to an idea, without having to explain the idea," she said.

By the end of last year, about 60 percent of the 165 judges on the federal appeals courts were appointed by Republican presidents, with 40 percent from Democratic presidents. Of the 13 circuit courts of appeal, 9 have majorities of judges named by Republicans presidents....

"George Bush won the election," said Representative Rahm Emanuel, an Illinois Democrat. "If you don't like it, you better win elections."
